Ci * r No.RA/SWD-MS/2018/ / Dated: In supersession of earlier notification No.RA/SWD/2008/2072 dated 10.03.2008 and in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the "Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013", the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh do hereby orders that no person shall engage in or employ for or permit to be engaged in or employed for any other person for manually carrying human excreta or construct or maintain a dry latrine in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Administrator, UT, Chandigarh further declares that the District Magistrate, Chandigarh shall act as 'Executive Authority' to exercise jurisdiction to ensure the compliance of the provisions of the Act, ibid, in the areas falling under U.T., Chandigarh as per provisions of the Act from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
