West Ben. Act XXXIII of 1963. GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act VI of 1989 THE WEST BENGAL HOMOEOPATHIC SYSTEM OF MEDICINE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1989. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 8th April, 1989.] [8th April, 1989.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Homoeopathic System of Medicine Act, 1963. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Homoeopathic System of Medicine Act, 1963, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Fortieth Year of the Republic of India. by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Homoeopathic System of Medicine (Amendment) Act, 1989. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 14th day of December, 1988. 2. For sub-section (1) of section 5 of the West Bengal Homoeopathic System of Medicine Act, 1963 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), the following sub-section shall be substituted:-- "(1) The Council shall consist of the following members:— (a) a President nominated by the State Government: Provided that on the expiry of the first two terms of office of the President as specified in sub-section (1) of section 13, the State Government shall nominate a President from among three persons recommended by the Council in such manner as may be prescribed; (b) five members, nominated by the State Government, of whom three shall be registered Homoeopathic practitioners; (c) one member elected by the members, other than ex officio members, of the Senate of the University of Calcutta from amongst themselves; (d) the Head of the Homoeopathic Research Institute, ex officio, when such an Institute is established: Sh
