40. (1) There shall be an Alumni Association for the University . (2) The subscription for membership of the Alumni Association shall be prescribed by the Ordinances . (3) No member of the Alumni Association shall be entitled to vote or stand for election unless he has been a member of the Association for at least one year prior to the date of the election and is a degree holder of the University of at least five years standing: Provided that the condition relating to the completion of one year's membership shall not apply in the case of the first election .
