(1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the Visitor from a panel of not less than three persons recommended by the Executive Council from amongst persons of eminence in the academic or public life of the country:

(1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the Visitor from a panel of not less than three persons recommended by the Executive Council from amongst persons of eminence in the academic or public life of the country: Provided that if the Visitor does not approve of any of the persons so recommended he may call for fresh recommendations from the Executive Council . (2) The Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment: Provided that notwithstanding the expiry of his term of office, the Chancellor shall continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his office.
