SCHEDULE II (FRUIT TREES) [See Section 3 (xi)] SCHEDULE III (FUEL TREES) [See Section 3 (xi)] Trees other than those specified in Schedule I and II. ———— STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS With a view to maintaining green cover for ensuring ecological balance, preventing pollution of environment and conserving the soil, it is considered necessary to regulate the felling and replanting of trees in the State. There is no comprehensive legislation on the subject, and the existing enactments like the U.P. Private Forest Act, 1948 (U.P. Act no VI of 1949), have not been found to be effective. This Bill is, accordingly, introduced. ————
