THE FOREIGN MARRIAGE RULES, 19701 In exercise Of the powers conferred by section 28 0f the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 (33 of 1969) and in supersession of the Special Marriage (Diplomatic and Consular Officers) Rules , 1955, published with the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of External ' Affairs No. SRO. 1679, dated 29th July, 1955, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely 1. Short title.-~These rules may be called the Foreign Marriage Rules, 1970. 2. Definitions.-~In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires, (a) Act" means the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 (33 of 1969); (b) "Form means a Form appended to these rules; (c) Marriage Officer" means a person appointed under section 3 of the Act to be a Marriage Officer; (d) section" means a section of the Act: 3.
