Repeal of U.P. Act no. 3 of 2005 UTTAR PRADESH SARKAR VIDHAYI ANUBHAG-I No. 1439/LXXIX-V-1-07-1(Ka)20-2007 Dated, Lucknow August 3, 2007 NOTIFICATION MISCELLANEOUS IN pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidhi Ayog (Nirsan) Adhiniyam, 2007 (Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 20 of 2007) as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Governor on August 2, 2007. THE UTTAR PRADESH STATE LAW COMMISSION (REPEAL) ACT, 2007 (U.P. ACT NO. 20 OF 2007) [As passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature) AN ACT to repeal the Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission Act. 2005. IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title and commencement 1. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission (Repeal) Act, 2007. It shall be deemed to have come into force on June 2, 2007. 2. (1) The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission Act, 2005 is hereby repealed. On and from the date of repeal of the Act referred to in subsection (1) the Provisions of sub-section (5) of section 4 shall not apply as if they have been omitted ab initio. Repeal of U.P. Ordinance no. 4 of 2007 3. The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission (Repeal) Ordinance, 2007 is hereby repealed. STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission Act, 2005 was enacted to provide for the constitution of State Law Commission in the State for identifying the matters for the reform of State Law's. The said Act come into force on January 12, 2005. After the constitution of the State Law Commission it was felt that the objectives for which the Law Commission was constituted were not being fulfilled by the State Law Commission. In such situation the continuance of the State Law Commission had become unnecessary and aimless. It was, therefore, decided to repeal the said Act in order to abolish the State Law Commission. Since the State Legislature was not in session and immediate legislative action was necessary, the Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission (Repeal)) Ordinance, 2007 (U.P. Ordinance no. 4 of 2007) was promulgated by the Governor on June 2, 2007. This Bill is introduced to replace the aforesaid Ordinance. By order, P.V. KUSHWAHA, Sachiv
