No. Parini. 2018/C.R.83/Vishi-2.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (10) of section 72 read with section 130 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 (Mah. VI of 2017), the Government of Maharashtra hereby, prescribes the following uniform Statute relating to convocation, namely :— UNIFORM STATUTE No. 4 OF 2018. Short title.—This Statute may be called the Maharashtra Public Universities (Convocation) Uniform Statute, 2018. Definitions.—In this Statute, unless the context otherwise requires :— “Convocation” means a ceremonial assembly of a University, normally held for conferring degrees, diplomas, certificates, academic distinctions and other awards to its eligible candidates; “Graduation Ceremony” means ceremonial assembly of an affiliated college or recognised institution held for conferment of degrees, diplomas, certificates and other awards to its eligible students. Procedure to be Followed.—(1) academic calendar published by the University, in addition to the schedules for academic activities, the tentative dates for convocation shall be included. The convocation shall be held within 120 days from the date of declaration of results of examinations. Convocation shall be held on the dates to be fixed by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the Chancellor. In the meeting preceeding to the convocation, the Academic Council shall recommend to the Management Council, the names of persons who are eligible for award of degrees, diplomas, certificates and academic distinctions.
