No. F5/VS/DES/99/11771-978 NOTIFICATION No. F5/VS/DES/99- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 30 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969,(18 of 1969), the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, with the approval of the Central Government, hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1 . Short title, extent and commencement:- These rules may be called the Delhi Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 1999. They extend to the whole of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. They shall come into force with effect from the 1 st day of January,2000. These rules shall replace the Delhi Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 1970 and all subsequent amendments there of notified from time to time. 2 . Definitions:- In these rules , unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Act" means the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (18 of 1969 ) ; (b) "Form" means a Form appended to these rules; and (c) “Section” means a section of the Act. 3 Period of gestation- The period of gestation for the purposes of clause (g) of sub- section (1) of section 2 shall be twenty- eight weeks.
