XXVIII OF 2010 (Rece ive d the assent of the Gov ern or on 31 st Aug ust, 2 010 ) THE ASSAM WOMEN (RESERVATION OF VACANCIES IN SERVICES AND POSTS) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2010 AN ACT to amend the Assam Women (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) Act, 2005. W hereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Women (Reservation of Vacancies Assam Act in Services and Posts) Act, 2005, herein after referred to as the principal Act, in No. XXIX the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-first Year of the Republic o f India as follows Short title, extent and commencement Substitution o f section 5 ' Power to exempt and increase or decrease o f percentage o f reservation (1) This Act may be called the Assam Women (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) (Amendment) Act, 2010. It shall have the like extent as the principal At t. It shall come into force at once. In the principal Act, in section 5, for the existing provisions, the following shall be substituted, namely If the State Government is of the opinion that in view of the specialised qualification or experience required in respect o f certain specialised services and posts, it is not expedient to reserve such services and posts lor Women, or that there is requirement to increase or decrease the percentage of reservation for Women in respect of such services and posts, the Shite Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt from reservation o f such services and posts and may also increase or decrease the percentage of reservation, for Women under this Act, relating to such services and posts from the purview of this Act."
