1 In pursuance of the provisions of clause (3)of article 348 of the constitution, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Notification No331/LXXXIV-1-2011-23 Ba Ma-2010, dated 1 April, 2011: No.- 331/LXXXIV-1-2011-23 Ba Ma-2010 Lucknow, Dated April 1, 2011 In exercise of the powers under sub-section (1) of Section 53 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 ( Act No 1 of 2010 ), the Governor after consultation with the Central Government is pleased to make the following rules, the same having been previously published in the Gazette under Government Notification No-216/84-1-2011-23 Ba Ma/2010, dated February 24, 2011, as required by sub-section (4) of Section 53 of the said Act. UTTAR PRADESH LEGAL METROLOGY(ENFORCEMENT) RULES 2011 Short title 1-(1) These rules may be called the Uttar Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) and commRules, 2011. encement (2) They shall extend to the Whole of Uttar Pradesh (3) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in Gazatte. Definitions 2 – In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires – (a) “Act” means the Legal Metrology Act, 2009; (b) "Reference Standard Laboratory" means a laboratory set up by the Central Government under the Act, where Reference Standards, Secondary Standards and Working Standards are maintained: (c) “Schedule” means a schedule appended to these rules; (d) Words and expressions used in these rules and not defined but defined in the Act shall have the meaning respectively assigned to them in the Act. Reference 3-The reference Standards shall be kept at such place, in such manner and in such Standards custody as may be prescribed under the Legal Metrology (National Standards) Rules, 2011.
