SECURITIES APPELLATE TRIBUNAL (SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES AND OTHER CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF THE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES) RULES, 1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 15-S read with clause (db) of sub-section (2) of section 29 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :— Short title and commencement. (1) These rules may be called the Securities Appellate Tribunal (Salaries and Allowances and Other Conditions of Service of the Officers and Employees) Rules, 1997. They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. Definitions. In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "Act" means the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992); (b) "Appellate Tribunal" means the Securities Appellate Tribunal established under subsection (1) of section 15K of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992); (c) "Rules" means the Securities Appellate Tribunal (Salaries and Allowances and Other Conditions of Service of the Officers and Employees) Rules, 1997; (d) all other words and expressions used and not defined in these rules but defined in the Act shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Act. The nature and categories of the officers and employees of the Appellate Tribunal and the scales of pay thereof shall be as specified in the Schedule appended to these rules.
