In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992), the Board with the previous approval of the Central Government hereby makes the following regulations, namely: CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title and commencement (1) These regulations may be called the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Merchant Bankers) Regulations, 1992. They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette . Definitions 2[(1)] 1 In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires,— 2 [***] 3 [(a) "Act" means the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992); (aa) "body corporate" shall have the meaning assigned to it in or under [clause (11) of section 2 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013)] 4 ; 1 Inserted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Merchant Banker) (Amendment) Regulations, 2021 w.e.f. 30-03-2021 2.
