GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LEGISLA TIVE DEPARTMENT West Bengal Act XL VIII of 1975 THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1975. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature. [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary; of the lst April, 1977.] [Ist April, 1977.] An Act to amend the Jadavpur University Act; 1955, the Burdwan University Act; 1959, the Kalyani University Act; 1960, the North Bengal University Act, 1961, the Rabindra Bharati Act; 1961 and the Calcutta University Act; 1966. West Ben. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Jadavpur University Act; 1955, Act XXXIII of 1955 the Burdwan University Act; 1959, the Kalyani University Act; 1960, West Ben_ the North Bengal University AcL, 1961, the Rabindra Bharati Act; 1961 Act XXIX of 1959. and the Calcutta Unie versity Act; 1966, for the purposes and in the West Ben. manner hereinafter appearing; Act XITI of 1960. It is hereby enacted West Ben_ in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of Act XXVII India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows of 961_ NesKex 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Universities Short title of 1961_ (Amendment) Act; 1975. and Nest_Ben (2) The provisions of this Act shall come into force on such date as roenmence of 1966. the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act: 2. In the Jadavpur University Act; 1955, Amendment (a) in section 4_ of West Ben; Act XXXIII (i) in sub-section (4), of 1955_ (1) for clauses (d) &nd (e); the following clauses shall be substituted, namely:_ "(d) three Deans ofthe Faculties, one from each of the Faculties of Arts, Science, and Engineering and Technoligy, ex-officio; 227 The West Bengal Universities (Amen
