West Ben. Act XIII of 1988. GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act XXI of 2000 THE DARJEELING GORKHA HILL COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2000. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 25th August, 2000.] [25th August, 2000.] An Act to amend the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council Act, 1988. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council Act, 1988, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- 1. (1) This Act may be called the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (Amendment) Act, 2000. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. In the long title of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council Act, 1988 (hereinafter referred to as the principle Act), for the words "a Council", the words "an autonomous Council" shall be substituted. In sub-section (1) of section 1 of the principal Act, for the words "Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council", the words "Darjeeling Gorkha Autonomous Hill Council" shall be substituted. In section 2 of the principal Act,— in cluse (f), for the words "Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council", the words "Darjeeling Gorkha Autonomous Hill Council shall be substituted; in clause - (a) in sub-clause (12), the word "and" shall be omitted, (b) in sub-clause (13), for the word and figures "Part II;", the words and figures "Part II, and" shall be substituted, and (c) after sub-clause (13), the following sub-clause shall be inserted:— "(14) Sittong Forest;".
