X. 6 Government of India Ministry of Finance Department of Revenue Central Board of Excise & Customs Subject: ECC based on PAN - date of introduction changed to 1 . 2 . 2000 It is directed to refer to the Board ' s Circular number 493/59/99 -CX dated 12 th November , 1999 regarding introduction of new Excise Control (new ECC) number based on Permanent Account Number (PAN) allotted by the Income Tax Department . The Government has decided to extend the date of introduction of new ECC number from 1 st January , 2000 to 1 st February , 2000 . The aforesaid Circular stands modified to this extent . 2 .
