GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act XVIII of 1997 THE WEST BENGAL LABOUR WELFARE FUND (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature:] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 2Oth August; 1997.] [2Oth August, 1997.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1974. West Ben_ Act XXXVIII of 1974. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act; 1947,for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; Itis hereby enacted in the Forty-eighth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows: 1. (1) This Actmay be calledthe West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Short title and (Amendment) Act; 1947. commence- ment. (2) Itshall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. 2. In section 9 of the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1974, Amendment of section 9 for sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be substituted: of West Ben_ Act "(2) For each employee whose name stands on the register of an XXXVIII of 1974. establishment, (a) the employer' s contribution shall be two rupees, and (b) theemployee's contribution shall be one rupee, both payable every six months ending on the thirtieth day = of June, and the thirty-first day of December; each year: 171
