West Ben. Act XXXIII of 1955. West Ben. Ord. XX of 1975. GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT West Bengal Act VI of 1976 THE JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1976. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 29th March, 1976.] [29th March, 1976.] An Act to amend the Jadavpur University Act, 1955. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Jadavpur University Act, 1955, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- This Act may be called the Jadavpur University (Amendment) Short title. Act, 1976. Section 6 of the Jadavpur University Act, 1955 (hereinafter Omission of referred to as the said Act) shall be omitted. In section 6A of the said Act,— (a) for the marginal note, the following marginal note shall be substituted, namely:— "The Chancellor and his powers.", (b) in sub-section (1), for the words "The Chancellor shall be the head of the University", the words "The Governor of the State of West Bengal shall be the ex-officio Chancellor of the University" shall be substituted. (1) The Jadavpur University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1975, is hereby repealed. Anything done or any action taken under the said Act as amended by the Jadavpur University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1975, shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the said Act as amended by this Act as if this Act had commenced on the 13th day of December, 1975. section 6 of West Ben.
