1. Short title, extent and commencement: _ This Act may be called the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958. (2) It extends to the whole of India I***_ (3) It shall come into force in a State on such date? as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different parts of the State.
