A-219 (a)/83. –Whereas the draft of the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Tamil Nadu) Rules, 1983 was published as required by subsection (1) of section 35 of the Inter-state Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 (Central Act 30 of 1979) at pages 225 – 276 of Part III—Section (1) (a) of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 25 th May 1983, as Notification No. S.R.O. A/123/83, dated the 2 nd March, 1983; And whereas, no objection or suggestion has been received by the State Government; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 35 of the said Act the State Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-- RULES CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title.—These rules may be called the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Tamil Nadu) Rules, 1983. Definitions. — In these rules unless the context otherwise requires,-- (a) ―Act‖ means Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 (Central Act 30 of 1979); (b) ―Appellate Officer‖ means an appellate officer nominated by the Government under section 11; (c) ―Commissioner of Labour‖ means an officer as such appointed by the Government; (d) ―Form‖ means a form appended to these rules; _________________________________________________________________________ 1 Vide the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
