GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act VI of 1992 THE WEST BENGAL MOTOR VEHICLES TAX (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1992. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature. [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the IOth April, 1992.] [1Oth April, 1992.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979. WHEREAs it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act; 1979, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; Itishereby enacted in the Forty-third Year of the Republic of India; by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows: 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Short title and (Amendment) Act, 1992. commence- (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the ZSth day of ment_ November; 1991. In section 2 of the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act; 1979 Amsegcoent (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act); of West Ben Act IX of (1) in sub-section (1); 1979 (a) after the words %in the subject or context; insert the following clause: '(la) Ambulance or clinic van means an omnibus Or motor vehicle adapted to be used as such for carrying patients or other medical purpose;' (b) in clause (a), for the words and figures sthe Motor Vehicles Act, 1939;"' , the words and figures "the Motor Vehicles Act; 1988;' shall be substituted; (c) after clause (a), the following clauses shall beinserted: "(al) "crane means any motor vehicle which is fitted with a mechanical crane of a designed capacity andis capableof being usedfortowing vehicles O lifting materials, and includes breakdown van; (a2) "dealer" has the same meaning in the Motor Vehicles Act; 1988; 4 of 1939_ 59 of 1988_ 83 The West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Act 19
