West Ben. Act IX of 1979. 4 of 1939. 59 of 1988. GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act VI of 1992 THE WEST BENGAL MOTOR VEHICLES TAX (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1992. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 10th April, 1992.] [10th April, 1992.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Forty-third Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Act, 1992. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 25th day of November, 1991. In section 2 of the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),— in sub-section (1),— (a) after the words "in the subject or context,—" insert the following clause:— `(la) "Ambulance or clinic van" means an omnibus or motor vehicle adapted to be used as such for carrying patients or other medical purpose;'; (b) in clause (a), for the words and figures "the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939;", the words and figures "the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988;" shall be substituted; (c) after clause (a), the following clauses shall be inserted:— `(al ) "crane" means any motor vehicle which is fitted with a mechanical crane of a designed capacity and is capable of being used for towing vehicles or lifting materials, and includes a breakdown van; (a2) "dealer" has the same meaning in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988;'; Short title and commencement.
