THE UNIQUE IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY OF INDIA (TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS) RULES, 2016 1 [Updated as on23 . 10.2023] In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 53 read with sub -section (4) of section 14 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:— Short title and commencement. — (1) These rules may be called the Unique Identification Authority of India (Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairperson and Members) Rules, 2016. They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. Definitions. — (1) In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) " Act " means the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016); (b) " Authority " means the Unique Identification Authority of India established under subsection (1) of section 11 of the Act; (c) " full -time Chairperson " means the Chairperson of the Authority appointed on full time basis under section 12 of the Act; (d) " Member " means the part-time Member of the Authority appointed under section 12 of the Act; (e) " part-time Chairperson " means the Chairperson of the Authority appointed on parttime basis under section 12 of the Act; Words and expressions used herein but not defined, and defined in the Act, shall have the same meanings assigned to them in the Act.
