THE UNIQUE IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY OF INDIA (RETURNS AND ANNUAL REPORT) RULES, 20181 [Updated as 0n23.10.2023] In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clauses and (g) of sub-section 2 of section 53 read with sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 27 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other Subsidies; Benefits and Services) Act; 2016, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules; namely: 1. Short title and commencement: (1) These rules may be called the Unique Identification Authority of India (Returns and Annual Report) Rules, 2018. 2 They shall come into force o the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions: 1 In these rules unless the context otherwise requires, (a) Act" means the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016; b ~annual report" means the annual report prepared by the Authority under sub-section (2) of section 27 of the Act; Appendix" means an Appendix annexed to these rules; ssection means a section of the Act; "year" means the financial year beginning the Ist day of April and ending o the 31st day of March of the year immediately following; (2 All other words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Act shall have the same meanings assigned to them in the Act: 3. Furnishing of quarterly returns The Authority shall furnish quarterly, to the Central Government; returns and statements on the matters specified in Appendix-I. 4. Preparation and submission of annual report. -(1) The Authority shall prepare, as soon as may be, after the completion of each financial year the annual report referred to in sub- section (2) of section 27 of the Act in the form specified in Appendix-II 2) The Authority shall prepare once in every year an annua
