[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 12th October, 1982.] [12th October, 1982.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Thirty-third Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Public Libraries (Amendment) Act, 1982. (2) This section and section 6 shall come into force at once; and the ramaining provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 15th day of July, 1982. In section 2 of the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),— after clause (a), the following clause shall be inserted:— `(aa) "Calcutta Metropolitan Library" means the District Library in Calcutta declared by the State Government as such;'; after clause (b), the following clause shall be inserted:— `(bb) "Corporation" means the Corporation of Calcutta as constituted under the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951;'; in clause (c), for the words "Public Libraries", the words "Library Services" shall be substituted; for clause (d), the following clause shall be substituted:— (d) "district" means a district of West Bengal and includes Calcutta as defined in the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951;'; Short title and commencement.
