(1) The Uttar Pradesh Water Supply and Sewerage (Second) Ordinance, 1975 is hereby repealed. — (U. P. ACT no. 43 of 1975)

(1) The Uttar Pradesh Water Supply and Sewerage (Second) Ordinance, 1975 is hereby repealed.

103. (1) The Uttar Pradesh Water Supply and Sewerage (Second) Ordinance, 1975 is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act, as if this Act had come into force on May 20, 1975. ——— STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS Supply of drinking water and proper disposal of sewage are very important for the health of the people both in urban and rural areas. There has been a gradual influx of rural population to urban areas as a result of which the situation in the urban areas has become very acute. The State Government has been sanctioning financial assistance in the form of loans and grants, according to the resources available, to the local bodies for this purpose. The existing local bodies have, however, not been able to expand and develop the facilities of water supply and sewerage to the requisite extent. 2. Negotiations have been going on between the World Bank and the the State Government for getting adequate amounts of loan for the development and regulation of water supply and sewerage services in the State. In these circumstances and with a view to making the water supply and sewerage system in the State more effective, it is necessary to establish a corporate body at the State level and to establish Jal Sansthan in different areas, wherever necessary. This Bill is being introduced accordingly. ——— 2
