GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT West Bengal Act XX of 1986' THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY LAWS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1986. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 22nd October, 1986.] [22nd October, 1986.] An Act to amend the Calcutta University Act, 1979, the Vidyasagar University Act, 1981, the Burdwan University Act, 1981, the Jadavpur University Act, 1981, the North Bengal University Act, 1981, the Rabindra Bharati Act, 1981 and the Kalyani University Act, 1981. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Calcutta University Act, 1979, the Vidyasagar University Act, 1981, the Burdwan University Act, 1981, the Jadavpur University Act, 1981, the North Bengal University Act, 1981, the Rabindra Bharati Act, 1981 and the Kalyani University Act, 1981, for the the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Thirty-seventh Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:— (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal University Laws (Amendment) Act, 1986. This section, clauses (a) and (b) of section 5 and sections 9 and 10 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 8th day of July, 1986; clause (a) of section 6 shall come into force on the date of publication of this Act in the Official Gazette; and the remaining provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of January, 1986.
