Thegovernor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of notification no.K.N: 5-1307/xi-2000-500-(80)-98 dated April 20, 2000 for general information: No.KN: 5-1307/xi-2000-500-(80)-98 Dated Lucknow April 20, 2000. n exercise of powers under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 9 of the Indian stamp Act. (Act no 2 of 1899) as amended from time to time in its application in Uttar Pradesh the Governor is pleased to reduce a period six months with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Gazette the Stamp Duty chargeable under clause (A) of Article 23 of Schedule 1-B of the said Act on the instrument executed by the person authoritiesd by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in favour of the lessee of Nazul Land for the purpose of converting leasehold rights into freehold rights in the said land to the extent of the stamp futychargable on the amount that exceeds the amount of consideration set forth in such freehold instrument up to the market valuve of such Nazul land: Provided that this notification shall not apply to matters relating to granting freehold right in Nazul land by way of auction or invitation of tender. Explanation- for the purposes of this notification the word consideration means the freehold charges and the intrestthereson if any taken by the person autoritieds by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for the purpose of converting leasehold rights in to freehold rights: By order T George Joseph.
