[MM II~wve 3() ] 4Rd * 797 37HruT MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION (Department of Consumer Affairs) NOTIFICATION New Delhi; the 8th February; 2011 GS.R.76(E) ~ In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with clause (I) of sub-section (2) of section 52 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement - (1) These rules may be called the Indian Institute of Legal Metrology Rules, 2011. (2) They shall come into force on the 1st day of April, 2011. 2 Definitions - In these rules, unless the context otherwise required: - (a) "Act" means the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010). (b) "Committee" means the Advisory Committee constituted under rule 7; (c) "Course" means a course of study in relation to such subjects as may be specified in the regulations; (d) "Institute" means the Indian Institute of Legal Metrology; (e) "Director (Indian Institute of Legal Metrology)" means head of the Institute; (f) "Regulation" means the regulations made by the Central Government under the Act; 3. Courses to be imparted at the Institute:` (1) There shall be imparted at the Institute long-term and short-term training courses in legal metrology and other allied subjects including consumer protection activities: (2) There shall be such refresher course for specific purpose and for such duration as the Committee may recommend: THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART IISEc. 3(i)] 4 Obligatory functions of the Institute: With a view to facilitation training, the Institute shall- (a) prepare, print Or publish such books, manuals handbooks, periodicals, instruction sheets, notes, papers or other documents on legal metrology and other branches of knowledge as may bRule TOC
