ESTATE, NEW DELHI-110002 No. F.8/18/MWM/Legal/98/Part-III/7436 NOTIFICATION No. F.8/18/MWM/Legal/98/Part-III/ .– Whereas the draft of the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rule, 2010 (Now 2011) was published as required under subsection (4) of section 53 read with clause (q) of section 2 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010) in the Delhi Gazette on the 10 th January, 2011 vide this Government of Delhi Notification No. F.8/18/MWM/Legal/98/Part-III/6639 dated 10 th January, 2011 inviting suggestions/objections from the persons likely to be affected thereby, within 30 days from the date of the publication of the said notification in the Delhi Gazette. And whereas the said Gazette was made available to the public on the 10 th January, 2011; And whereas objections/suggestions received with regard to the said draft rules have been considered by the Competent Authority. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 53 read with clause (q) of section 2 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010), the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in consultation with the Central Government, is pleased to make the rules to carry out the provisions of the said Act as following, namely:- Short title and commencement.– (1) These rules may be called the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011. They shall come into force on the 1 st day of April, 2011 . Definitions.– (1)In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires, – (a) “Act” means the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010); (b) “Delhi” means the National Capital Territory of Delhi; (c) "Government" m

11 · Licensing of manufacturer, repairer and dealer of weights and measures.

13 · Records to be maintained by manufacturers, etc. – Every manufacturer or repairer of, or dealer in weight or measure licensed under the Act and these rules shall maintain records and registers in the appropriate form set out in Schedule VII and also submit such periodical reports / returns as may be specified.

14 · Verification and inspection of weights or measures. – (1) Every person using any weight or measure in any transaction or for protection shall present such weight or measure for verification / re-verification, at the office of the legal metrology officer or at such other place as the legal metrology officer may specify in this behalf on or before the date on which the verification falls due:

25 · Fee for compounding of offences.– The fee for compounding of offences committed under the Act shall be as prescribed in Schedule XI.

26 · Repeal and Savings.– (1) The Delhi Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Rules, 1988 shall cease to have effect from the date of issue of these rules.
