This Act may bc callcd thc Calcutla University (Amendment) Short title. Acl, 1976. 2. In scction 8 of thc Calculta Univcrsity Acl 1966 (hcrcinallcr Amendment rclcrrcd to aS thc said Act) , for sub-scclion (1), the (ollowing of scction & of West Ben sub-scctions shall be substituted, namcly: Act [[ of 1966. (1) Thc Vicc-Chanccllor shall bc appointcd by Uhc Chanccllor in consultation wilh thc Ministcr (rom pancl of nol Icss than thrce persons rccommcndcd by a Commitcc conslilulcd [or the purpose in the manncr sct forth in sub-scction (IA): Providcd that no pcrson shal} bx includcd in Ihe pancl without his conscnt: (IA) Thc Commitcc rclerrcd to in sub-scction (1) shall consist of fivc pcrsons of whom Lwo shall bc nominccs 0[ thc Syndicatc, one shall bc a nomincc ol the Acadcmic Council, Onc shall bc a nomincc of the Chairman of thc University Grants Commission and onc shall bc nomincc of thc Chanccllor who shall act aS thc Chairman of the Committcc.
