ORDINANCE NO.3 ADMISSIONS 3 . 1 The number of admissions that can be made to any approved Programme of the Institute shall be as decided by the Senate from time to time . 3.2 Reservation of seats for various reserved categories shall be as prescribed by the Board of Governors. 3.3 The eligibility requirements and frequency of admission to the approved Programme of the Institutes shall be decided by the Senate. 3.4 Students who have completed their 10+2 are eligible to apply to the BS/BS-MS (Dual Degree) programme. There are three channels of admission: (i) Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) , (ii) Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT - JEE) , and (iii) State and Central Boards (SCB). 3.5 Students who have completed their Bachelor ' s Degree in relevant disciplines and have qualified a national level examination or/and meet any other criteria imposed by the concerned department are eligible to apply to the Integrated Ph.D. Programmes. 3.6 Students who have acquired a Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science with NET/GATE Qualification or Post Graduate Degree in Professional Courses (through national level eligibility examination) are eligible to apply to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme. Under special circumstances , Graduate Degree in Professional Course with NET/GATE Qualification may also be considered for admission in certain Departments . GATE examination is exempt for those with B . Tech./B.E./BS from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute [CFTI] with CGPA/CPI more than 8.0 on a 10 point scale. 3.7 Candidates studying in the final year of their qualifying degree may be considered for provisional admission to the Integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. Programme provided they satisfy all other requirements prescribed by the Senate. 3.8

3 · 8 The departments may stipulate additional requirements over and above the minimum admission requirements stipulated by the Senate for admission to Integrated Ph.D . and Ph . D . Programme. However , such additional departmental requirements shall require prior approval of the Senate .
3 · 9 Every student, admitted provisionally or otherwise to any Programme of the Institute , shall submit copies of the degree/provisional certificate and such other documents as prescribed by the Senate. The admission of any student who does not submit the required documents by the stipulated date or fails to meet any other requirement for admission can be cancelled by the Senate.
3 · 10 The admission of any student may also be cancelled by the Senate, at any later time, if it is found that the student had supplied some false information or suppressed some relevant information while seeking admission . .
3 · 11 The Institute shall be open to persons of all sex and of whatever race, caste or class, and no test or condition shall be imposed as to religious belief or profession while admitting the students.
