GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT West Bengal Act XLVIII of 1975 THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1975. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 1st April, 1977.] [1st April, 1977.] An Act to amend the Jadavpur University Act, 1955, the Burdwan University Act, 1959, the Kalyani University Act, 1960, the North Bengal University Act, 1961, the Rabindra Bharati Act, 1961 and the Calcutta University Act, 1966. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Jadavpur University Act, 1955, the Burdwan University Act, 1959, the Kalyani University Act, 1960, the North Bengal University Act, 1961, the Rabindra Bharati Act, 1961 and the Calcutta University Act, 1966, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Universities Short title (Amendment) Act, 1975. comm (2) The provisions of this Act shall come into force on such date as ment. the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. In the Jadavpur University Act, 1955,— (a) in section 4,— (i) in sub-section (4),— for clauses (d) and (e), the following clauses shall be substituted, namely:— "(d) three Deans of the Faculties, one from each of the Faculties of Arts, Science, and Engineering and Technoligy, ex-officio; and commence- Amendment of West Ben.
