The Goa Panchayat Raj (Oath of Office to Panchayat Members) Rules, 1997 ______ Department of Panchayat Raj & Community Development Directorate of Panchayat ________ Notification 14/DP/PAN/96-97 Whereas the draft of the Goa Panchayat Raj (Oath of Office to Panchayat Members) Rules, 1997, was published as required by sub-section (1) of section 240 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Goa Act 14 of 1994) at pages 595 and 596 of the Official Gazette, Extraordinary No. 4, Series I No. 41, dated 10-1-1997 under Notification No. 14/DP/PAN/96-97 dated 10-1-1997 of the Department of Panchayati Raj and Community Development, inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of 10 days from the date of publication of the said Notification in the Official Gazette; And whereas the said Gazette was made available to the public on 10th January, 1997; And whereas no objections/suggestions have been received from the public on the said draft by the Government. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 43 , read with sub-section (1) of section 240 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Act 14 of 1994), the Government of Goa hereby makes the following rules, namely:— 1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called the Goa Panchayat Raj (Oath of Office to Panchayat Members) Rules, 1997. (2) They shall come into force at once. 2. Definitions.— In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) “Act” means the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Act 14 of 1994); (b) “Form” means the form appended to these rules; (c) "member" means a person, irrespective of any sex, elected or deemed to have been elected as member of Panchayat and includes a co-opted member; (d) “Oath Officer” means the BlRule TOC
1 · Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called the Goa Panchayat Raj (Oath of Office to Panchayat Members) Rules, 1997.
2 · Definitions.— In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,—
3 · Place, date and time for taking oath.— The Oath Officer shall intimate in writing to every member of Panchayat, the place, date and time for taking oath. Such intimation shall be served on the member by any of the methods of serving notices as provided under sub-section (1) of section 235 of the Act.
