Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission Viniyamak Bhavan, C-Block, Shivalik, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi-110017 F.17(174)/Engg./DERC/17-18/5851 Order (Date of Order: 10 . 10 . 2017) Whereas, provisions of the Regulations 11 (4) (vi) (a) and 16(13) of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (Supply Code and Performance Standards) Regulations, 2017 stipulate that upto 45kW the electricity connection to the tenants and to the applicants for temporary connection shall be released through pre-payment meters only. And whereas, the aforesaid provisions for pre-payment meters have been introduced for the first time and timely release of electricity connections as mandated under the Electricity Act, 2003 has to be ensured at the same time. And whereas, the distribution licensees have sought relaxation in implementation of aforesaid provisions on the ground that they do not have sufficient number of prepayment meters to cater the demand and the process of procurement of pre-payment meters, though already initiated , may require some more time. Now, therefore, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission in exercise of its powers conferred under Regulation 85 of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (Supply Code and Performance Standards) Regulations, 2017, hereby make this Order to make the provision in respect of release of connection through pre-payment meters, not inconsistent with provisions of the Act and the regulation, to relax the performance standard namely:- Short Title & Commencement : -(1) This order shall be called First Relaxation Order , 2017 . This order shall come into force on the date of its issue . Supply of electricity through pre-payment meters.
