Puniab Government_ Revenue Department Notification Dated 3rd May 1958 declaring RoadsCanals and Railways lines as Protected Forests No_ 1122 Ft.58/1195. In suppression of Punjab Government Notification: 1_ 2_ 3_ 4_ No. 260 Ft dated the &th February, 1945 No. 5002 D -51/6264 dated the 15th November; 1951 No. 563 Ft _ 54/458 dated the 3rd March; 1955 and No. 3384 Ft _ 55/2134 dated the 19th August; 1955 And in exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 of India Forest Act; 1927 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf; the Governor of Punjab is pleased to declare the strips of Govt: forest or waste lands whether under tree growth Or not on either side of all roads, canals and railways in the State of Punjab except those in the Patiala Division described in the following schedule to be procted forests and the provision in Chapter IV and section 68 of the said Act to be applicable to them: Schedule Name of Strips Descriptions and Situation Roads All P.WD (Building and Roads) roadside strips and also other P.W.D. lands in Punjab State transferred to the Forest Department for management: AIl land on either side of P.W.D. (Irrigation Branch) Canals, Canal road including main canals, branches, distributaries, minor, escapes and bandhs and other land of that department transferred to the forest department for management: The land along the railway tracks and station yard on the Northern Railway transferred to the Forest Department for management Canal Railways No_ 122 Ft 58/1196. Whereas by Punjab Government Notification No. 1122 Ft _ 58/1195, dated the 3rd May; 1958,all strip of Government waste lands, demarcated by boundary pillar whether under tree growth O not on either side of all roads, canals and railways in the State of Punjab except Patiala Division as mentiRule TOC
2 · No person shall herd, pasture graze O retain sheep Or camels O other kinds O cattle on the lands specified in the schedule annexed to Punjab Government Notification No. 1122-Ft - 58/11958 dated the 3rd May. 1958. However Division Forest Officer of the Forest Divison concerned may permit grazing by a limited number of cattle.
3 · . No person shall clear or break up land without previous permission of the Divisional Forest Officer concerned, executive Engineers incharge of the Railway O road O canals may however, permit the breaking Up of land to remove earth for use of railway lines roads and canals as the case may be, in times of emergency_
6 · Income from compounding of offences against these rules under section 68 of the Indian Forest Act; 1927 shall be credited to the Government.
