In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 (1 of 1944) , the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944 namely - (1) These rules shall be called the Central Excise (First Amendment) Rules, 2000. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, (i) in rule, 1O0G (a) in sub-rule, in the second proviso, for the figure and letters "11.00 AM", the figure and letters 2.00 P.M"shall be substituted; (b) in the sub-rule (3), for the figures and letters "11.00 A.M.", the figure and letters "2.O0P.M." shall be substituted; (ii) in rule 224, (in sub-rule (2), in the second proviso, for the figure and letters 11.00 AM: the the figure and letters "2.00 PM "shall be substituted; (b) in the sub-rule (2A), for the figures and letters 11.00 A.M" , the figure and letters "2.O0P.M" shall be substituted; P K Sinha Under Secretary to the Government of India ENo216/01/2000-CX6 Note The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India vide notification No. -IV D-CE dated the 28th February, 1944 and subsequently amended by Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) notification No. 59/99-CE (N.T:) dated 1Oth December 1999 under GSR 806 (E) dated 1Oth December; 1999"
