MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 4th January, 2017 G.S.R. 3(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (c) of section 68 read with clause (3) of section 2 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (2 of 2016), and in supersession of the Guidelines Governing Adoption of Children, 2015 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, section 3, sub-section (ii) dated the 17 th July, 2015 vide notification number S.O. 1945 (E) dated the 17 th July, 2015, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby notifies the following adoption regulations as framed by the Central Adoption Resource Authority. CHAPTER – I PRELIMINARY Short title and commencement.- (1) These regulations may be called Adoption Regulations, 2017. (2) They shall come into force on the 16th January, 2017. Definitions.- In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires,- (1) "Act" means the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (2 of 2016); "Adoption Committee" means the Committee comprising of the authorised office-bearer of the Specialised Adoption Agency concerned, its visiting doctor or a medical officer from a Government hospital and one official from the District Child Protection Unit; and shall also include a representative of the Child Care Institution, in case the adoption is from a Child Care Institution other than the Specialised Adoption Agency; "adoption fee" means the fee as prescribed by the authority to be received from the prospective adoptive parents directly, in case they are living in India and through Authorised Foreign Adoption Agency or Central Authority or the Government department, as the case may be, in cases of i

Suspension or revocation of recognition of Specialised Adoption Agency.- (1) The State Government, shall act upon, suo-motu or on the recommendation of State Adoption Resource Agency or the Authority, either suspend or revoke the recognition granted to a Specialised Adoption Agency on any of the grounds specified in subregulation (2) .
