UFiT/REGGENLIND Tele—fax : 6100678 ORDER The Directors of Census Operations have been notified as Joint Registrar Generals and the Joint/Deputy Directors have been notified as Assistant Registrar General under the Registration of Births & Deaths Act, 1969 to discharge such functions as the Registrar General, India may authorize them to discharge from time to time. It has been decided that the following functions may be looked after by the Joint Registrar General/Assistant Registrar General in charge of the Directorate of Census Operations of the state under the overall guidance and control of the Registrar General, India. The other officials of the Directorate would assist the JRG/ARG in carrying out these activities under their supervision. Monitoring of implementation of various provisions of the RED Act, 1969 Coordination with the state government on behalf of the RGI. The designations and functions of the registration functionaries across the states are not uniform in all states. To avoid confusion, standardization of the designations and corresponding functions are required across the states. This aspect will be looked into by the Joint Registrar Generals for taking up with the state government for appropriate action wherever necessary. Publicity for birth and death registration at the local level Providing assistance to Chief Registrars for training of officials and inspections.
