No. 222/2019/No. [1-1/PS to Secy: FY /S&T/CS&CA/AH&VS/2019/77] __ WHEREAS, it has been noticed that extensive use is being made of plastic carry bags, which by reason of their chemical or physico-chemical properties, are liable to cause harm to human beings,other living creatures, plants, micro-organisms and the environment of Andaman and Nicobar Islands_ The negative environmental impacts are more' visible at tourist spots, beaches, roads, drains and sewers, markets, ports/harbours, part of reserved forests, national parks both marine and terrestrial, wildlife sanctuaries, biological parks, gardens and water reservoirs in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands frequented by the tourists and others: 1i90; ? '0'+4; 0T&s UCvm AND, WHEREAS, The Administration had imposed complete ban on use, storage, import, manufacture, transportation, distribution % sale and disposal of plastic carry bags irrespective of thickness, size, color and nature in the Union Territory; of Andaman and Nicobar Islands vide A & N Gazette Notification No. 202 dated 02-08-2010 NOW, THEREFORE, with the view to protect and improve the quality of environment and to prevent, control and abate environmental pollution in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in exercise of the powers_conferred under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act; 1986 (29 of 1986), read Fith Notification No. S.0. 667(E) dated 1Oth September; 1

1 · The District Magistrates / Assistant Commissioners Tehsildars of all Districts: 1i The Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council: j1. The Chief Executive Officer of all the Zilla Parishads, Executive Officers of Panchayat Samitis, Secretaries of Gram Panchayats iv. The Divisional Forest Officers/ Deputy Conservator of Forests Range Officers in Reserved Forests Protected Areas: V The Enforcement Officers of Department of Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology: vi. The Station House Officers of all Police Stations:
3 · The Deputy Commissioners %f all the Districts of U.T. of Andaman and Nicobar ISlands shall implement the above orders related to prohibition on use, storage, import, manufa cture, transportation, distribution or sale and disposal of plastic carry bags in their respective jurisdictions.
4 · The Task Force constituted at Tehstl Level with the following composition shall be mandated to carryout regular inspection In accordance with the Notification and submit the monthly report to Department of Science and Technology, A 8 N Administration through the concerned Deputy Commissioners:
