Name of Strip APPENDIX – – VI REVENUE DEPARTMENT (FOREST) Notification No. 1122 -Ft -58/1195 rd The 3 May, 1958 In supersession of Punjab Government Notification No. 260 Ft, dated the 8 th Feb, 1945. No. 5002 -D 51/6264, dated the 15 th November, 1951. No. 563 -Ft -54/458, dated the 3 rd March, 1955, and No. 3384 -Ft -55/2134 dated, the 19 th August, 1995. No. S.O. 44/ C.A. 16/27/S. 29/72 dated, the 6 th March, 1972. No. S.O. 97/ C.A. 16/27/S. 29/77 dated, the 15 th July, 1977. No. S.O. 215/ C.A. 16/27/S. 29/89 dated, the 22 nd December, 1989. No. S.O. 47/ C.A. 1927/S. 29/98 dated, the 1 st May, 1998. and in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 29 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to declare the strip of Govt. forest or waste lands whether under tree growth or not on either side of all roads, canals and railways in the State of Punjab except those in the Patiala Division described in the following Schedule to be protected forests and the provisions of chapter IV and Section 68 of the said act to be applicable to them. Schedule Description and Situation Notification No. 1122 -Ft -58/1195 Whereas by Punjab Government Notification No. 1122-Ft-58/1195, date the 3 rd May, 1958, all strips of Punjab Government waste lands, demarcated by boundary pillars whether under tree growth or not on either side of all roads, canals and railways in the State of Punjab except Patiala Division as mentioned in the Schedule annexed to the said notification have been declared protected forests under Section 29 of Indian Forest Act, 1927. Now, therefore, the Governor of Punjab in exercise of powers conferred by Section 30 of the said Act is pleased:- (a) To declare all trees standing or upon these lands to

1 · No. person shall cut, fell, girdle or lop any tree for any purpose whatsoever or remove any forest produce without the pervious permission of the Divisional Forest Office for the time being incharge of the forest division in which such lands are situated provided that in times of emergency the executive engineers incharge of the may cut, fell or lop and tree for use on the respectively:-
2 · No. person shall hard, pasture, graze or retain sheep, goats or camels or other kind of cattle on the lands specified in the Schedule annexed to Punjab Government Notification No. 1122 -Ft -58/1995, dated the 3 rd May, 1958. However, Divisional Forest Officer of the Forest Division concerned may permit grazing by a limited number of the cattle.
3 · No person shall clear or break up land without previous permission of the Divisional Forest Officer concerned, executive engineers incharge of the railways or roads or canals may, however permit the breaking up of land to remove earth for use on railways lines, roads and canals, as the case may be, in times of emergency.
4 · No person shall cut or remove the grass without the approval of the Divisional Forest Officer of the Forest Division concerned.
5 · No person shall set fire to grass, trees or timber or kindle a fire on the land without taking responsible precautions to prevent its spreading to any tree.
6 · Income from compounding of offences against these rules under Section 68 of Indian Forest Act, 1927, shall be credited to the government.
