[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature:] [Assent of the President was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary; of the 2lst June, 1980.] [2]st June, 1980.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979. West Ben Act IX of 1979. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act; 1979, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafler appearing; Itis hereby enacted in the Thirty-first Year of the Republic ofIndia, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows 1. This Act may be called the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Short title (Amendment) Act, 1980. 2__ In the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1979, after section Insention of new section 11, the following section shall be inserted: HiA in West Ben, Act IX ~Powcr t0 exempt 14A The State Government; if it thinks fit so of 1979_ from penalty under section [ 1. to do in the public interest; may, by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt (a) the owner of any motor vehicle who is authorised to operate in the State of West Bengal by virtue of a national permit granted to him under sub-section ( 14) of section 63 of the Motor Vehicles Act; 1939, Or (b) any public carrier who is permitted to operate, subject to any rules made or deeined to have been made under this Act; in the State of West Bengal by virtue ofa public carrier' $ permit granted under section 56 of the Motor Vehicles Act; 1939, from payment of such of the penalty under section 1as may be specified in the notification. 4 of 1939_ 93
