[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature:] [Assent of the Goveror was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 2Sth August; 2000.] [2Sth August, 2000.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Municipal Act, 1993. West Ben_ WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Municipal Act; Act XXII of 1993 1993,for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India; by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows: 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Municipal Short title (Amendment) Act, 2000. and commence- (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government ment: may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint 2. "(22A) "heritage building O site" means any building of one Or more premises, Or any part thereof, OT any monument,orany precinct,Or any site, which requires preservation and conservation for historical, architectural,environmental Orculturalpurpose,and includes such portion of the land adjoining such building O any part thereof as may be required for fencing O covering or otherwise preserving such building, and also includes the areas and buildings requiring preservation and conservation for the purpose as aforesaid under sub-clause (ii) of clause (a) of sub-section (4) of section 31 of the West Ben_ West Bengal Town Act XIII of and Country (Planning and 1979 Development) Act, 1979; 247 The West Bengal Municipa
