3 · The Dean of the School shall be Chairman of the Board and shall convene the meeting of the Board. Where the post of Dean is vacant; the Chairman shall be nominated by the Vice Chancellor: 4_ The functions of the School Board shall be to: (a) Co-ordinate the teaching and research work in the departments assigned to the school. (b) Appoint Committees to organize the teaching and research work in subjects Or areas which do not fall within the sphere of any departments in the school and supervise the work of such Committees. (c) Approve the courses of study of various programmes including research degrees offered by the Departments. (d) Recommend t0 the Executive Council the names of examiners for the evaluation of thesis for Ph.D_ and other research degree. (e) Recommend to the Academic Council, creation or abolition of teaching posts after considering proposals received from the Departments /Centres (f) Recommend the suggestions of the Board of Post-graduate Studies to the Academic Council regarding the award of research degrees to candidates who have been adjudged to be fit to receive such degrees (g) Consider and act on any proposal regarding the welfare of the students of the school. (h) Consider schemes for the advancement of the standards of teaching and research and to submit proposals in this regard to the Academic Council. (i) Perform all other functions which may be prescribed by the Act, Statutes and Ordinances and to consider all such matters as may be referred to it by the Executive Council, the Academic Council or the Vice Chancellor_ (j) Delegate to the Dean or to any other member of the Board or to a Committee such powers, general Or specific, as may be decided by Vice Chancellor_ 5 . Meetings of the Board shall either be ordinary Or special. Ordinary meetings shall be held twice in a year of which one shall be held in the first quarter of the Academic session_
6 · Special meetings may be called by the Dean on his own initiative or shall be called at the suggestions of the Vice Chancellor o on written request from at least one fifth of the members of the Board: 7 . The Quorum for a meeting of the Board shall be one third of its total membership. 8_ Notice for the ordinary meeting of the Board shall be issued at least ten days before the date fixed for the meeting and for the special meetings at least five days before the date fixed for the meeting 9_ Rules of conduct of the meetings shall be as prescribed by the regulations to be framed in this regard. Note: The Notification published in Chapter-II School Board of "Ordinances Governing Academic Matters" of the Gazette of India No. 76, dated May 12, 2009 is hereby repealed. 2 · The amount shall be deposited by IMU in a Nationalised Bank in Fixed Deposit in such a way as t0 maximize, to the extent possible, the interest accruing to the Fixed Deposit 3 The annual interest from the Fixed Deposit shall be utilized for the giving of Medal and Prize every year_ 4_ For minimum Endowment of Rs.1.00 lakh assuming Fixed Deposit interest rate of &9 per annum Medal/Prize of value approximately Rs.8,000 can be given: 5_ The name of the Medal or Prize, its purpose, and the types of students to whom it can be given should be clearly specified by the donor_ IMU will normally accept the donor request in this regard. However; IMU reserves the right to reject an Endowment or to make suitable modifications in the name Or purpose or the types of students to whom the Medal or Prize should be given if what was proposed by the donor is considered to be prejudicial to social harmony O to law and order or academic excellence or is impracticallimpossible to implement 6_ Subject to what is stated in (5) above, it shall be the prerogative of IMU to select the students for the Medal or Prize under intimation t0 the donor.
7 · _ The Medal or Prize will normally be given after one year from the date of acceptance of the Endowment by IMU. If the donor wants the Medal or Prize to be given within one year from the date of acceptance, then he should donate an additional amount equal to the value of the Medal o the Prize amount: 8_ An Endowment once created in IMU is irrevocable and the donor o his heirs/successors/assignees cannot ask for it to be returned. An Endowment is deemed t0 be created when IMU has issued letter to the donor intimating him the acceptance of his donation_ 9_ Two o more donors can institute an Endowment jointly. 10. If for any reason the Medal or Prize could not be given in a particular year, IMU shall arrange t0 give it as soon as it may be practicable_ 11. If for any reason no student is found to be eligible to receive the Medal or Prize during given year; the amount shall be added to the principal of the Fixed Deposit: 12. IMU' s employees will not be allowed to create any Endowment in their name while in service. 13. There shall not be any financial burden upon IMU' s funds in awarding the Endowment Medal o Prize. 14. Donations towards Endowments will be accepted only in the form of Demand Draft/Banker' $ Cheque. 15. Where endowments are received from foreign nationals O foreign companies, due compliance with the laws should be ensured_

16 · There should not be any diversion of Endowment funds to other purposes_ C Terms and conditions concerning_the Endowment for Orations 1 _ The minimum donation towards an Endowment for an Oration t0 be delivered in IMU for the benefit of the students shall be Rs.5.00 lakhs_ There shall be no maximum limit. But donations greater than Rs.5.00 lakhs should be in multiples of Rs.10,000. 2 The amount shall be deposited by IMU in Nationalised Bank in Fixed Deposit in such a way as t0 maximize, to the extent possible, the interest accruing t0 the Fixed Deposit: 3 The annual interest from the Fixed Deposit shall be utilized for organizing an Oration every year: 4 For minimum Endowment of Rs_ 5.00 lakhs assuming Fixed Deposit interest rate of 8% per annum an amount of approximately Rs_ 40,000 is likely to be available which should defray all the costs of organizing the Oration including the travel, boarding and lodging, honorarium to the speaker, function arrangements and $o on. 5_ The name of the Oration, its purpose, and the type of audience to whom it should be delivered should be clearly specified by the donor_ IMU will normally accept the donor request in this regard. However; IMU reserves the right to reject an Endowment O to make suitable modifications in the name OT purpose Or the type of audience to whom the Oration should be delivered if what was proposed by the donor is considered to be prejudicial to social harmony O to law and order or academic excellence or is impracticallimpossible to implement. 6_ Subject to what is stated in (5) above, it shall be the prerogative of IMU to organize the Oration under intimation to the donor_

3 · The Performance Appraisal Report (PAR) shall be written for each financial year that is from 1st April to 31st March of the following year: Where more than one PAR is written during the course of financial year; each such report shall indicate the period to which it pertains. No Performance Assessment Report (PAR) need be written if the period covered is less than 3 months_ Instead certificate to this effect may be kept in the file_ The Performance Appraisal Report (PAR) shall be written by Reporting Authority" and it will then be reviewed by ~Reviewing Authority" The Reporting Authority and Reviewing Authority for the various Officers, Campus Directors and Non-teaching Staff shall be as under:
6 · Group A_ and Group B Officers and the Campus Directors reported upon shall be required to furnish self_ assessment report in the relevant columns of the PAR format to the Reporting Authority within 2 months of the conclusion of the Reporting period [i.e. before 31 May]. [Group € Non-Teaching staff may write on separate sheet of paper and attach it with the PAR format]. If an official fails to submit his self-assessment report within the time limit prescribed then the Reporting Authority and the Reviewing Authority shall be at liberty to record their marks without the self- assessment report_ 7 The Reporting Authority and the Reviewing Authority shall record the marks for each Performance Indicator in the relevant columns of the PAR format and also the score on the 10-point scale normally within 2 months from the date of receipt of the form: When Reporting Authority/Reviewing Authority retires, he shall give his report 0 within one month of retirement. 8 The overall score on the 10-point scale given by the Reviewing Authority is final. 9 Apart from the overall score on the 10-point scale, the Reporting Authority and the Reviewing Authority shall also record brief narrative report of the official' $ performance within 200 words. 10. The PAR should not aim t0 be punitive; rather its aim should be to guide the Official to achieve his full potential and produce better results_ 11. photocopy of the PAR shall be furnished to the official for perusal under proper acknowledgement:
12 · Any official who has been awarded a score below 4 on the 10-point scale may submit a written representation to the Reviewing Authority within 2 months from the date of communication of copy of the PAR: The Reviewing Authority shall obtain the remarks of the Reporting Authority on the representation of the aggrieved official and pass such orders as appropriate regarding the amendment of the score within 3 months 13_ If any comment made in the course of the brief narrative report penned by the Reporting Authority as well as the Reviewing Authority is adverse to the official, he may submit a written representation to the Reviewing Authority within 2 months from the date of communication of a copy of the PAR The Reviewing Authority shall obtain the remarks of the Reporting Authority on the representation of the aggrieved official and pass such Orders as appropriate within 3 months_ The same will hold good where Reporting Authority has not made any adverse comment but the Reviewing Authority has made an adverse remark. Where an adverse comment has been made by the Reporting Authority and the same has been specifically rebutted by the Reviewing Authority, it shall be treated as if there is no adverse comment against the official. 1 · REVALUATION
1 · 1 Application for Revaluation of answer scripts will be considered only for Examinations other than Post Graduate Examinations, Practical Examinations, field work, internal assessment; thesis submitted in lieu of a paper and Examinations for which there is provision for two independent (double) valuations_ 1.2 Application for Revaluation shall be made in the prescribed form and to be sent through respective campuseslcolleges: 1.3 Revaluation can be admitted only if the candidate had failed in not more than five papers out of the total number of papers written by the candidate during that examination session. 1.4 A fee of Rs.SO0/- will be charged per paper for Revaluation in failed paper. If different sections of questions in Question Paper are answered in different answer books all such answer books shall be treated together as single unitlpaper The fee shall be remitted by way of SBI Core Banking Challan O in such other manner prescribed by the Indian Maritime University. 1.35 Application for Revaluation should reach the Office of the Controller of Examinations within 15 days from the date of publication of the results unless otherwise specified by the University. 1.6 Applications received after the last date prescribed will not be considered under any circumstances Incomplete forms and forms not accompanied by relevant documents may be rejected without assigning any reason whatsoever: 1.7 Fee once remitted for Revaluation of answer scripts will not be refunded: 1.8 If a candidate gets less marks in the Revaluation than in the first, the original mark may be retained. However even in case candidate gets higher marks in the Revaluation but the status of the candidates result has not changed, only the original marks will be retained and the result declared as "No change" 1.9 panel of subject experts having more than five years of teachinglindustry experience has to be prepared for each subject by the Controller of Examinations and the same has to be approved by the Vice Chancellor: This panel has to be reviewed every three years _ 1.10 The paper for Revaluation should not be valued by the same examiner who has done the first valuation_ 1.11 The paper for Revaluation should not be revalued by any Examiner who belongs to the same campus/college where the candidate studied before appearing for that paper except where Programme is conducted at only One Campus/College 1.12 Not more than 25 papers per session should be given to an Examiner for Revaluation: 1.13 If the work of an Examiner leads t0 an increase Or decrease of marks in Revaluation in more than 20% of the scripts, explanation shall be called for from the concerned Examiner through proper channel and the reply will be placed before the Vice-Chancellor for further action.
1 · 14 The Deputy Registrar shall maintain list of Examiners against whom action has been taken under these guidelines. Such debarred examiners shall not be considered for appointments in connection with any examination for period of 3 years_ 1.15 Where there is variation of more than 15 marks out of 100 between the first and second valuation, the paper shall be sent for third valuation_ The final marks shall be the "average of third valuation and the nearest among the first and second valuation 1.16 The Revaluation results are to be published within one month from the date of receipt of the applications. 1.17 All works relating to Revaluation will be treated as extremely confidential and therefore interim enquiries will not be entertained.

2 · RE-TOTALLING 2.1 Application for Re-totalling of answer scripts will be considered for Under Graduate Examinations, Post Graduate Examinations, other than Practical Examinations, field work; internal assessment, thesis submitted in lieu of a paper _ 2.2 Application for Re-totalling shall be made in the prescribed form and to be sent through respective head of Institutions. 2.3 A fee of Rs.2S0/- will be charged per paper for Re-totalling: The fee shall be remitted by way of SBI-Core Banking Challan of Indian Maritime University. 2.4 Fee once remitted for Re-totalling of answer scripts will not be refunded 2.5 All works relating to Re-totalling will be treated as extremely confidential and therefore interim enquiries will not be entertained.
2 · 6 Application for Re-totalling should reach the Office of the Controller of Examinations within 15 days from the date of publication of the results unless otherwise specified by the University. 2.7 The Re-totalling will be done by the Faculty to be nominated by the Controller of Examinations: 2.8 Re-totalled marks will be taken as the final marks and the marks secured by the candidate in the original valuation will be changed and results published accordingly: 2.9 If the Re-totalled marks are the same or less than the marks secured in the original valuation, the status of the results declared will remain unchanged. 2.10 The Re-totalling results to be published within 15 days from the date of receipt of the applications 3.
