GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LAW DEPARTMENT Legislative West Bengal Act VII of 1998 THE WEST BENGAL PUBLIC LIBRARIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1998. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 5th August, 1998.] [5th August, 1998.] An Act to amend the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Forty-ninth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Public Libraries (Amendment) Act, 1998. It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. In section 2 of the West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),— after clause (bb), the following clause shall be inserted:— `(bbb) "Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council" means the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council constituted under the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council Act, 1988;'; after clause (j), the following clause shall be inserted:— '(j1) "SiliguriMahakumaParishad"means theMahakuma Parishad for the sub-division of Siliguri in the district of Darjeeling constituted under section 185B of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973;'.
