The Gazette of India EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-Section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No . 1702] NEW DELHI , WEDNESDAY , DECEMBER 3 , 2008/AGRABAYANA 12 , 1930 MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi , the 3rd December , 2008 S.O . 2835(E) – In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (h) of sub-section (2) of Section 32 read with clause (j) of sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act , 1985 (2 of 1986) , the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Rules 1986 namely :- , 1 . (1) These rules shall be called the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Amendment) Rules 2008 . They shall come into force on the date of their publication . 2 . In the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Rules , 1986 , after rule 16 , the following shall be inserted , namely :- "17 . Functions of the Authority – The measures referred to in clause (j) of sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Act shall include the measures for registration and protection of Geographical indications as required under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act , 1999 (48 o f1999) and such other Intellectual Property Rights in relation to Basmati rice or similar rights in relation to such other Scheduled products , which the Central Government may hereinafter notify."
