WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Municipal Elections Act; West Ben_ Act 1994, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing; XXXIV of 1994. It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-fifth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows: Sbomerlcement: 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Municipal Elections = Act; 2004. (Amendment) (2) This section shall come into force at once; the remaining sections shall come into force on such date Or dates as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different sections of this Act.
