No. 222/2019/No. [1-1/PS to Secy: FY /S&T/CS&CA/AH&VS/2019/77] __ WHEREAS, it has been noticed that extensive use is being made of plastic carry bags, which by reason of their chemical or physico-chemical properties, are liable to cause harm to human beings,other living creatures, plants, micro-organisms and the environment of Andaman and Nicobar Islands_ The negative environmental impacts are more' visible at tourist spots, beaches, roads, drains and sewers, markets, ports/harbours, part of reserved forests, national parks both marine and terrestrial, wildlife sanctuaries, biological parks, gardens and water reservoirs in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands frequented by the tourists and others: 1i90; ? '0'+4; 0T&s UCvm AND, WHEREAS, The Administration had imposed complete ban on use, storage, import, manufacture, transportation, distribution % sale and disposal of plastic carry bags irrespective of thickness, size, color and nature in the Union Territory; of Andaman and Nicobar Islands vide A & N Gazette Notification No. 202 dated 02-08-2010 NOW, THEREFORE, with the view to protect and improve the quality of environment and to prevent, control and abate environmental pollution in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in exercise of the powers_conferred under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act; 1986 (29 of 1986), read Fith Notification No. S.0. 667(E) dated 1Oth September; 1
